Of Narratives and Presuppositions

It's easier to believe a narrative
But why choose to cling
To presuppositions 
When a simple conversation
With a daughter you avoid
Could perhaps clear the air
And then you would see
The checkout started long ago
But you only noticed when
The skies turned black
With catastrophe
